Sunday, August 23rd, the whole family went to the Kansas City Air Show. The air show benefits the Mid-America Youth Aviation Association, which awards six scholarships a year to youth interested in pursuing a career in aviation. My daughter obtained a VIP parking permit so we didn't have to ride the shuttle bus across the Broadway Bridge, which was closed for the day for public use. There was a lane for the bus and those who held a vip permit. I guess I should mention that the rest of the family had to take the shuttle! Because my daughter works at a company that is at the Wheeler Airport, we were able to get free food, drinks and able to watch the show from inside, as it overlooks the runway. The Army Parachute Team, called The Golden Knight," was breathtaking with their bright yellow parachutes and the almost red smoke that followed them down to the ground. The F 18's were so loud you wanted to plug your ears when they passed by. I couldn't get a shot of them because they were just too darned fast! Andrew had his ear plugs in when the F 18's were around! There were many small children wearing big head phones to protect their ears from the loud noises. Thank goodness the weather was great this year...sunny and in the 80's. Needless to say we missed some of the action as we were visiting and Andrew found a boy his age to hang out with. In fact, they had so much fun, that he disappeared for a while and we had to go looking for him. We knew he was safe as you had to have a badge to get in and out of the building and it was very secure. Farrah mentioned the air show, two years ago, was bigger, better. Regardless, we all had a great time and glad we went!
The show had lots of entertainment for the kiddies. I posted a picture of Andrew climbing up a big blow up chute...climbing really high to the top and then sliding down on the left. We couldn't get a shot of him coming down, as it was enclosed with a net so the kids were safe on the way down!

These are beautiful pics, Jill! We saw a bit of the airshow, albeit by accident. But what we saw was very cool....And what a beautiful day!
