Family Reunion

We had our Foster/Syverson Family Reunion in Minneapolis on July 23rd-July 25th.  It was great seeing everyone and meeting new relatives! We come from Norwegian heritage so we discussed how to make Lefse, which is a wonderful Norwegian type of bread???  It's very thin and you can put butter on it along with cinnamon...yummy!! It would make you think of a flour tortilla in some ways as far as the shape goes.  It tastes alot better and is very thin. There is an art that comes from Norway or Sweden and it is called Rosemalling. One of my relatives brought a sample piece and I have a picture below of what it looks like.  Hardanger is another Norwegian art. I took a Hardanger class in Columbia and I quit after the first lesson.  One has to cut with a very thin scissors to make the tiny squares, and if you make a mistake, the whole piece is ruined. It's beautiful, but not for me!! Other relatives brought books and items that are connected to Norway. I obtained the name of a woman who makes Lefse and she will send it to them in the mail, so I think I will do that in the near future!

       











I got to meet my cousins from my Mother's side of the family for dinner on Saturday evening.  It was great seeing them and I wish I could see them more often!! We had a wonderful evening visiting and catching up!
